Music Review : Tashan3 star

Tashan MovieYashraj Films goes into full bloom "pharmoola" (formula) of "bhojpuri ishytle" in their first major hi-octane energy action extravaganza of this year titled TASHAN. Unlike the regular mushy "n" syrupy romantic blues or trendy "Dhoom Machale" trendy stuffing, this YRF album has rustic festive folklore "dhin-chaak" North Indian flavors in all its offerings. Vishal-Shekhar musical zing is all charged up in delivering rustic zing of "bhojpuri" punch that gets embroiled meticulously into modernized hip-shaking orchestrations.

Folksy Sukhwinder Singh's folklore tinge of delivering sentimental blues gets into racy rock musical mode as mood goes berserk in rollicking hit track "Dil Haara". Vishal-Shekhar's catchy rhythmical beat patterns along with enthralled chorals ("Ho-ha-ha") should be complemented for making it hot-spot racy track. It initiates with folksy "alaap" followed by inspiring chorals mixed aggressively with zany rock guitar feel and slightest Latino touches. Sukhwinder's modulating baritones is well emoted in its concluding phases where hard rock metal feel culminates the enthused proceedings with big thump. Piyush Mishra's lyrical work may be modest but comes out with motivational phraseology that connects amiably with this folksy cum rock composition. "Dil Haara" is likely to be escalating high on charts and do listen to the peppy signature tune in its interludes that's creating buzz for this hi-profile flick. Chartbuster all the way!!!

Kareena & SaifThe mood goes theatrical as all four lead actors emotes out their way of "TASHAN" (meaning fashion or style in Punjabi or in any North Indian lingo) in four different vocal versions titled as "Pooja Ka Tashan" (Kareena Kapoor), "Jimmy Ka Tashan" (Saif Ali Khan), "Bachchan Pandey Ka Tashan" (Akshay Kumar) and "Bhaiyyaji Ka Tashan" (Anil Kapoor). It's a smart marketing move to materialize the hi-profile face value of bankable lead actors through these theatrical snippets and do enjoy some hilarious punches in Akshay Kumar's "TASHAN" version.

The raunchy folklore flavors of "nautanki" gets a trendy make-over of electronic cum rock musical orchestration in alluring feminine track "Chhaliya". Sunidhi Chauhan's brash "n" brazen rendition tries to be analogous to the voluptuousness of "Beedi" (OMKARA) with sluggish "banjaran" (gypsy) overtones in its rustic backdrop. This enticing seductive track penned by Anvita Dutt Guptan is likely to be eye-candy for its slick choreographic moves and flashy camera work.

It's time for "jugalbandi" style of music as "Hinglish" phraseology by Vishal hits high and low with mixed bag of traditional and modern instrumentation flows in loud and boisterous "Dil Dance Maare". Vishal-Shekhar's musical binge traverses back to contemporary Laxmikant-Pyarelal flair of music by rendering prominent elements of harmonium, drums mixed with peppy electronic based arrangements in its composition. This time Sukhwinder Singh's vocals gets ably shouldered by Udit Narayan and Sunidhi Chauhan coarsely rendition with quizzical one-liners like "White White Face Dekhe, Dilwa Beating Fast, Sasura Chance Maare Re, O Very Happy In My Heart, Dil Dance Maare Re" that adds rustic colors to its festive glow. After vibrant "Dil Haara", this massy track will surely be hitting high on charts for its infectious catchy beats and bizarre wordings.

Kareena Kapoor"Falak Tak", a subtle and mellowed romantic track by Udit Narayan and Mahalaxmi Iyer alienates from the regular rustic feel of the album and brings back the traditional YRF feel of landscaped mushy romanticism. It's an audible hearing contribute by new lyricist Kausar Munir that encapsulates the syrupy harmonic feel of subtle tracks like "Suraj Hua Madham" (K3G), "Bol Na Halke Halke" (JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM) and "Falak Dekhun" (GARAM MASALA) into new impressive format.

Vishal-Shekhar gets into stylish Hollywood's action maneuvers in incorporating the enthralling thriller paced hi-octane energy musical binge into booming background score with "Tashan Mein". Vishal along with Salem hits high with boisterous singing notes in an energizing typical hard rock and "Sufi" musical feel that serenades the hot potboiler feel to the flick.

Vishal-Shekar's TASHAN may not be as big or grand as their last year chartbuster hit OM SHANTI OM but delivers the bankable massy appeal in almost every single soundtrack. After RACE, this comes out as second big budget musical "blitzkrieg" that will be hitting high on stands in its earlier weeks of release. Soundtracks like "Dil Haare" and "Dil Dance Maare" stands out as the most promising while "Falak Tak" and "Chhaliya" will be picking up fast and quick with its film's aggressive promotion and probable success at the box office.
