But after independence , the people's love for their country seemed to be diminishing and too busy betraying it and making money out of it. Masterji tried to stop the traitor but his own family got scattered. His wife and daughter were kidapped to try and change his ways but to no avail. His wife became a victim of leprosy. Masterji and his son settled ina slum divided in 4 sections- Punjabi, bengali, Muslim and Madrasi with a slum lord in each section. All of them loved their own section but nobody thought of themselves as Indian except Masterji. His son a Raju ( Amitabh Bachan) grew in a different way being draw into the underworld.
