Biography |
||
| He worked as a waiter in Bangkok before dabbling in to films. He studied martial arts in Hong Kong and is sometimes referred to as the "Bruce Lee of India". Akshay after years of doing tough guy roles. He has sprung a surprise in Rajkumar Santoshi's Khakee. His irreverent and flirtatious turn in the movie has got the audience cheering. He is revelling in his new on screen personality. His performance is praise in Khakee. Akshay Kumar who is originally called Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia is born on 7 September 1967. He studied martial arts in Hong Kong. Somebody suggested him to try modelling because of his good looks. From their he was offered films. True to his well-acclaimed name – Khiladi - Akki has been the smart player all the way. In this rat-race of Bollywood our Khiladi Kumar has struggled, battled and come through like a knight in shining armour. Only a dauntless Khiladi like him can take the risk, the chance and live life dangerously. And that’s what has given Akshay the cutting edge. From the winding lanes of Delhi’s Chandni Chowk, to serving exquisite cuisines in the restaurants of the electrifying Bangkok city, to the glitzy world of Bollywood. His first few movies vanished like a whiff of wind and left Akki’s career in the lurch. With ‘Main Khiladi tu Anari’, ‘Mohra’ and ‘Yeh Dillagi’ his career took an upswing and he proved that he wasn’t only an action man, or khiladiyon ka khiladi, or simply in Bollywood playing games; rather, he was here to act, perform and stay. Soon ‘Dhadkan’ happened - that totally changed the beat of his career. Following the film was the rip-roaring comedy, ‘Hera Pheri’, that gave Akki’s career a real toss...and he yielded to the comedy caper genre of acting. ‘Ajnabee’ was Akshay’s next victory; it won him the Filmfare Award for ‘Best Performance in a Villainous Role’ in 2001. So once again the risk was worth it for this smart khiladi – he turned from the glorified hero to the evil guy. ‘Aankhen’ and ‘Awara Pagal Deewana’, his last two films, have fetched Akshay rave reviews. In the former he played a blind man, but his performance was simply eye-catching and awesome. And ‘Awara Pagal Deewana’ was the second big hit of the year. His next two biggies will be ‘Aan’ and ‘Khakee’. His debut film was Saugandh which was released in 1991. He always prefer to do adventurous movies in which he do all his stunt scene on his own. He was well known for his 'Khiladi' series an Indian version of James Bond such as Mr. Bond (1992), Khiladi (1992), Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), Mr. & Mrs. Khiladi (1997) and Khiladi 420 (2000). He dated with his many co-stars including Raveena Tandon, Shilpa Shetty, Pooja Batra. But finally he got married to Twinkle Khanna. He has a son named "Araav" born on 15th September 2002". His two other films are ready to release Aan: Man At Work in which he played an IPS officer who tries to go by the rules. He is playing an honest cop in this movie and Police Force: An Inside Story is a story of a trainee police officer who's a victim of corruption in the force and how he fights back. | ||
