Keeping their relationships private has never been easy for celeb couples, more so when they are not married. Prying eyes and pricking remarks usually make sure that they either go the Abhishek-Aish way or the Yuvraj-Kim way. But there are some who have managed to keep their feelings under wraps, away from media glare and untouched by compromises. Most relationships in Bollywood come with an expiry date on them. Some stars find true love while others aren’t so lucky. Here we have some of those couples that couldn’t work it out…

John Abraham - Bipasha Basu

If recent rumors are to be believed, John and Bips are heading the Kelly-Lara way towards a split. Few months ago, there was talk that they were facing problems and were working on their relationship. They even tried to sort things out by taking a break from their busy schedules.

But after Bipasha’s rendezvous with footballer Christiano Ronaldo in Lisbon hit the headlines, things have really heated up. Wonder what’s in store for John and Bipasha over the next few days?

Salman Khan - Somy Ali

This relationship was strange from the beginning for the simple fact that both had their share of affairs before they became close to each other. While Somy Ali had a couple of ‘starry’ affairs with Saif Ali Khan and badman Gulshan Grover, Salman too had just gotten over Shaheen and Sangeeta Bijlani. At an important juncture, Salman even wanted to marry Somy, but later he felt she was too childish and immature for her age. Somy desperately wanted marriage while Sallu kept putting their relation on hold. That was reason enough for them to go their separate ways.

Lara Dutta - Kelly Dorji

Kelly is said to have moved out of Lara’s house in Bandra and is currently put up at an apartment in the suburbs. Lara’s ascent in Bollywood with the latest movie JBJ (Jhoom Barabar Jhoom) coupled with Kelly’s inability to find a career of his own seems to have drawn them apart from each other.

Having found favour with Yashraj films, Lara is going places while her boyfriend still lagged behind which was not acceptable to an independent woman like Lara herself. The 8 years that they spend together wasn’t enough to save this love affair from turning awry.

Salman Khan - Aishwarya Rai

They were probably the best looking pair that fell in love with each other in tinsel town. Having met on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Sallu and Ash’s affair became the talk of the town. Inspite of being tagged a ‘womaniser’, the worlds most beautiful woman (arguably) gave into Salman’s charming nature. But after a certain point in their relationship things took an ugly turn as Sallu started abusing Ash and mistreating her. Finally, Aishwarya took a stand and their ‘love affair ended with their break-up in March 2002. Although he may feel the pinch once in a while, we’re sure he’s found happiness in his next fair-skinned beauty Katrina Kaif.

Aishwarya Rai - Vivek Oberoi

Life for Ash wasn’t smooth sailing post her break-up with Salman Khan. She was physically and emotionally scarred. In those trying times it was Vivek who gave her unflinching support and helped her cope during this difficult phase. The media misconstrued this friendship to be something else. Vivek declared his liking for Aishwarya in the open though she never looked at him as more than a true friend. Vivek then claimed being harassed and threatened by Sallu, her ex-boyfriend. Aishwarya couldn’t take it anymore and decided to part ways. Of course we’re sure Vivek will be able to bag another beauty in the future. No Problems!

Aamir Khan - Kiran Rao

Gossip mongers have it that relations between Bollywood’s ‘perfectionist’ Aamir Khan and his better half Kiran Rao have been having ‘issues’ for a while. Both partners being hard core workaholics, neither has the time and effort to put in that much more into their marriage. Abhishek Bachchan - Dippanita Sharma

Dipanita must’ve felt like a princess to have been wooed by the prince of Bollywood.Considering that Abhishek is one of the hottest male stars in Bollywood, one would think that Dippanita must have been desperate to get hitched with the ‘hot dude’. But on the contrary it was Bachchan Jr who unrelentingly pursued Dippanita and won her heart. Introduced by close friends, both got along well with each other until AB’s baby hid the fact that he had a growing fondness for Ash.
