Bollywood's deadliest killers

Amitabh

Villains are a dying race in Bollywood. It's not that evil has dissapeared from the world, but it’s just that filmmakers are now inching towards realism and not everybody has a villain to deal with in their life. With Ram Gopal Varma's Aag we'll see Gabbar Singh the most feared villain of Bollywood make a comeback. This will hopefully give villains a much-needed breath of life after all for heroes to exist there has to be villain.

Gabbar Singh - Sholay

Gabbar Singh - Sholay

Amjad Khan made shockwaves upon his arrival in the film industry. Amjad’s portrayal of Gabbar in Sholay left his memory etched in the minds of film buffs. The powerful performance has left Bollywood dedicating homage’s to the truly memorable daku even today.

Gabbar plays the leader of a band of thieves who doesn’t tolerate failure. He deals with failure with this is with his trusty long rifle. To think this was Amjad’s major role.

Mogambo - Mr. India

Mogambo - Mr. India

Around the time of Mr. India’s release Amrish Puri had already gained international recognition because of his Mola Ram character from Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom. Mogambo is unarguably one of Bollywood’s best villains. This was a brilliant yet insane general, but he wasn’t all bad as you could see a comical streak in him. Mogambo’s minions served him with an unflinching loyalty - there’s a shocking scene where he commands a handful of his soldiers to dive into a pit of acid and they willingly do so! Mogambo’s soldiers greet him a ‘Hail Mogambo’ similar to how the despotic Hitler was saluted by the Nazis.

Shakaal - Shaan

Shakaal - Shaan

Kulbhushan Kharbanda gave a stunning debut performance in Shaan. He plays Shakaal a super-villain and an enemy of the nation.

Inspired by Blofeld from James Bond, the Shakaal character enhanced his deadliness by having a man-eating crocodile as a pet - no tame pussycat for this villain! Bald and brutally ambitious Shakaal would happily mow down anyone in his way.

Dr. Dang - Karm

Dr. Dang - Karma

Its unknown as to from where Michael Dang earned his doctor title from but it certainly isn’t given because of the people he’s killed. Dang’s spectacles might give him the appearance of a harmless guy but this villain has no likeable trait whatsoever.

He is extremely ruthless and arrogant so much so that he destroys the calm of Dada Thakur’s (Dilip Kumar) prison all because he slapped him. Despite his countless comic roles Anupam Kher pulls off the job of playing a despicable with ease.

Rahul Mehra - Darr

Rahul Mehra - Darr

Shah Rukh Khan played the insane Rahul Mehra during a time when we saw our villains as uncouth and unpleasant-looking individuals.

Rahul Mehra stood out because here was a young, seemingly pleasant-looking individual. He wasn’t someone who wanted to rule the country with an iron fist but somebody more like us and that’s what made him truly scary.

Vijay Singh Rajput - Aankhein

Vijay Singh Rajput - Aankhein

Amitabh Bachchan plays a man who’s driven crazy with anger for being fired from the job he’s been at for the past 25 years. So he devises a crazier plan by hiring three blind men to rob a bank.

Amitabh Bachchan plays a harsh character that’s intolerant and impatient with the obvious limitations of the blind men.

Vikram - Junoon

Vikram - Junoon

During a time when Rahul Roy was at the top in the acting world he made this daring move of playing an uncaring rich spoilt brat that turns into a tiger.

During a hunting spree, Vikram (Roy) ends up getting cursed for hunting tigers. Although he plays an animal that only hunts for food. Vikram displays cunning in order to trick his prey thus making him more vicious than the tigers himself.

Yashwant Angre - Khakee

Yashwant Angre - Khakee

Ajay Devgan showed that he can play the action hero, the romantic star, the comedian and with Khakee also the villain. Ajay’s character makes for a ferocious villain so much so that he has the good guys scampering around for cover.

Ajay shows that he certainly is a versatile actor so when he tires of positive roles the negative roles are always waiting for him.

Goli - Main Anari Tu Khiladi

Goli - Main Anari Tu Khiladi

Shakti Kapoor plays a powerful underworld figure that either bribes or kills anyone that gets in his way. While Shakti has often played the villain in his 400+ film career, but these have sometimes been evil goofy characters.

However his role in Main Anari Tu Khiladi is one where he is irredeemably bad. In other words he borrows Gulshan’s "bad man" title here.

Kancha Cheena - Agneepath

Kancha Cheena - Agneepath

For most of his career Danny has played bad guys. It’s only recently with villains becoming obsolete that Danny has shifted roles. Kancha Cheena is one of Danny’s meanest characters.

He is a drug king-pin who has no consideration for the good people that want to benefit society. All Kancha really cares about is furthering his criminal empire. Of course when you thoughtlessly destroy homes they are repercussions and this is something every villain comes to learn.

Billa Jilani - Gardish

Billa Jilani - Gardish

This is one of the first films in Mukesh Rishi’s career. Being huge and scary-looking he’s the perfect choice when casting a villain that can fight by himself and not always send his goons to do his dirty work.

His character of Billa Jilani is a local thug that everyone fears and pays security money too.

Aai - Shootout at Lokhandwala

Aai - Shootout at Lokhandwala

Aai is the most recent addition to the list of onscreen meanies. She's a foulmouthed and harsh lady who only shows her affections for her son.

Unlike other mothers she teaches her son to be a crook and take from others what he doesn't have. Even after the brief career gap Amrita Singh gives a convincing performance. In actuality Maya Dolas' real-life mother sued the filmmakers for this allegedly unfair depiction.

Chappan Tikli - Sir

Chappan Tikli - Sir

The official ‘bad man’ of Bollywood Gulshan Grover plays the leader of an underworld organization as he has done so many times before. Chappan is an individual who cares nothing for co-existence and would rather rule the city by himself.

So much so when there is a possibility of peace he only uses it as a tool to gain power. Truly a bad bad man ..
