Magic!
Shooting in India can be one of the
most rewarding experiences for any
film crew. India has some of the best
and the most exotic locations and
the range is mindboggling. Exquisite
palaces, monuments of love such as
the Taj Mahal, pristine beaches, romantic
coves, houseboats that float on dreamy
waters, special theme trains fit for
royalty, magical hill stations nestled
in misty clouds, snow clad slopes,
hot sand deserts of the Thar, the
high altitude cold deserts of Ladakh
and Spiti, backwaters of Kerala, tea
gardens of Assam, jungles of Madhya
Pradesh, tribal villages, ancient
towns by the banks of holy rivers,
fast paced cities, Portuguese churches
and villages in Goa, moonscapes and
the mighty Himalayas are just some
of the places that make India an irresistible
potboiler of magical locations.
India is home to the largest film
industry in the world, churning out
an average of 1200 films every year.India
offers the wildest possibilities and
services at a minimum of costs. It
truly gives you a bang for your bucks
and every dollar is sure to take you
a much longer mile, when shooting
here. It is a truly feasible location
for a producer on a budget, but in
no mood to compromise her or his creative
potential.
India also has a great pool of acting
talent to choose from and with enough
actors have previously worked with
international productions. Recently,
Indian actors Aishwarya Rai and Mallika
Sherawat have made their presence
felt on the international scene by
attracting a huge amount of attention
at Cannes, and the former has made
it to People magazine’s list
of Most Beautiful People. Many others
such as Naseeruddin Shah, Shabani
Azmi, Om Puri, Victor Banerjee, Sayeed
Jaffery and Gulshan Grover have been
regularly involved with international
film projects for years. If one is
willing to experiment with untested
or less experienced talent, the options
are limitless. The casting agent or
line producer can arrange extras.
They may recommend street casting
in certain places, and it’s
a good and much cheaper option to
consider.
Hyderabad, Delhi and Mumbai have
a variety of shooting floors to choose
from. Some of them offer existing
scenery and sets. Not all floors are
air-conditioned and one must specifically
request for one, if needed, and not
take it for granted
There are some popular Beaches where
shooting is to be done:
