Yet another Khan faces the Shiv Sena ire! Reportedly, Shiv Sena activists in Amritsar burnt posters and effigies of Salman Khan, calling for an immediate ban on an offensive TV ad which showcases the actor endorsing a popular chewing gum brand.
As per the activists, the ad, which shows a cow giving ice cream instead of milk after SK feeds it a mint, has not gone down with the Sena activists.
"It's an insult to Hinduism," says Sandeep Kulkarni, spokesperson of the Amritsar wing of the Shiv Sena in a media quote. "There are 100 ways of making an ad, without playing with the sentiments of the Hindus. We will continue our protest till the ad is removed."
Prasoon Joshi, originator of the prickly ad, describes such protests as "bizarre" and told an eager media, "I respect religion and I'm a very religious person myself. I don't see anything controversial in the ad. The real cows which are aging need more help than the fictional ones."
In the face of all the ad furore, Khan who's away in the Maldives, has reportedly maintained a stoic silence on the issue.
