Plot Synopsis
In 2006, the drug trade is booming. The Malaysian Intelligence and Anti-Narcotic Department are called upon for assistance by their Indian Counterparts. There are rumours that a drug gang has recently moved their headquarters to Kuala Lampur.

The gang is headed by Singhania. But what many people do not know, is that the business is truly managed by Singhania's trusted lieutenant, Don.

A man who lives live on the edge, Don is constantly expanding the size of his empire while evading arrest or death at the hands of his enemies. His chief pursuer is an Indian police officer Narcotics, DCP Desilva (Played by Boman Irani). He is a man who has sworn to capture Don as he believes that Don is the key to capture the gang.

And one day, he succeeds. Don is captured and Desilva puts his plan into action. Desilva hires Vijay, a Don look-alike to nab the whole gang. Vijay infiltrates the cartel and manages to give Desilva all the information he needs to bring it down. But infact Desilva is Vardhaan, rival to Singhania.

The only people who realise that Vijay is an imposter, are the members of Don's cartel and they want their revenge. Vijay is on the run and is now on the lookout for the last piece of evidencea (a disc) that can get him out of this mess.

Helping him on his quest are two people. One is Roma (Priyanka Chopra), a young woman, who was working in the gang but only to avenge her brother's death who had been mercilessly killed by Don when he had decided to leave the gang. The other person is Jasjit (Arjun Rampal), the real father of Vijay's adopted son, he owes Vijay a favour for having looked after the boy while he was in prison.

The Story has 2 major twists, First that DCP Desilva is actually Vardhan, who wanted to destro Singhania because of old underworld dispute, and second, that Vijay was killed by Don and fooled everyone, inclulding his own clann...

For some die-hand "Don" Fans,the paan chewing boy "Vijay",was more memorable then Don himself.Farhan Aktar ans Shahrukh Khan understood that and make a concentrated effort to make him as novel and exciting as the one in the orignal.Together,they have created as innocent,lovable and totally new "vijay".

Priyanka Chopra ... Roma
How did Don Happen??How does any movie initiate for that matter.A phone call then the regular meeting and you read the script.Keeping the same old plot in mind and yet presending and packaging it in such modernized way is a challenge in itself.And it was no different for my character ROMA.In our Don, she's already a trained martial artist and therefore,a lot more strict and aggressive.

Isha Koppikar ... Anita
Anita is just my kind of a girl "Care a Damn attitude Love-Doll".She lives in her own world and creates her own space.Little different than the original, she's louder with her actions and obviously her bad habites....

Arjun Rampal ... Jasjit (J.J.)
wonderful..but jasjit in the original was 44." is what i thought when Farhan called me for Don.so i went met up with im and little did i know of how well he had got the whole story structured in his head.To limp was difficult initially but the concept of cane with Jasjit at all times was very interesting.More than a prop it become a part of the character and so did the 'kada' and the 'family photograph' he carries with him in the movie.I always thought the character was more emotional than aggressive and the rage side to it was only an outcome of what was made to go throught.

Boman Irani ... DCP DeSilva / Vardhaan
As a child,I would play cops and robbers and dress up like cowboys.I remember, the guns we used were terrible,they'll give blisters on your fingers and then today after so many years being a part of Don like getting to live your childhood dream.

Kareena Kapoor ... Kamini / Sonia
Kamini's role is brief but very pivotal.The story revolves around finding Don to avenge Kamini and her fiance's murder.So this is where it really strats.She's also the first one to have come really close to having caught Don..but then .."Don ko pakkadna muskhil hinahi Naamunkin Hai".

Om Puri ... Vishal Malik
Malik as a character is not too complicated an simple to approach.he as an officer is strict and professional yet believes that it would only be fair to give Don a chance to prove his innocence.But nobody has any idea what lies ahead..

Remaking a yesteryear hit can be an arduous task. Especially if it happens to be the Amitabh Bachchan starrer DON. One film people remember vividly for various reasons, right from Big B's towering performance to the popular tracks to its gripping story and sharp execution.

A remake comes with its share of plusses and minuses, advantages and disadvantages. The advantages first…

• Perhaps, the new generation might not have watched the classic starring Bachchan. That makes the 2006 adaptation a novel cinematic experience. The present version also arouses tremendous interest since SRK steps into Bachchan's shoes.


• DON was made in the 1970s and a new version, with appropriate updates, is always welcome.


• Most importantly, every director has his/her style of interpreting a story. Chandra Barot had his way of narrating a story, Farhan Akhtar has his own unique style.

• Since the Bachchan starrer remains etched in the memory of a section of moviegoers, the SRK starrer carries a massive responsibility on its shoulders. The comparisons, therefore, are inevitable. Every character, song and the impact of several vital portions will be viewed minutely.

There is something about these BIG films that makes one await their music with a bated breath. Whether it is 'Fanaa', 'Krrish', 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' or any of the other multi crore extravaganzas that have arrived on screen in recent months, there is a certain expectation from the music of each of these films. But one thing that is still common about the music of their films is the 'predictability' factor. There is always a set expectation from a Yashraj/Rakesh Roshan/Karan Johar film which means that though the music of the films mentioned above have ranged from good to very good, what has been amiss is the "surprise" element. Nothing wrong with that but then a listener won't really mind with an occasional surprise or two!

This is where the music of 'Don - The Chase Begins Again' scores!

Because though there have been people ready with bouquets and brickbats before the music starts playing, what cannot be denied is that none are aware about what is going to be in store. Will 'Don' have the music in a style similar to the 70s? Will 'Don' forget about the past and turn out to be a score that suits the image of Shah Rukh Khan in the contemporary world? Or does it fuse the present with the past while not shying away from taking a peek into the future
