Annual celebrity calendars have become highly notable showbiz events in India as famous model photographers like Dabboo Ratnani and Atul Kasbekar have carved their niche in this genre. Although Kingfisher Annual Swimsuit Calendar is a pioneer of sensational calendars, many leading photographers have inspired to showcase their acumen through different themes every year.

As the market is already flooded with many such calendars of various sizes and shapes, themes and locations, let’s see what 2008 calendars of top photographers are all about!

Celebrity photographer Subi Samuel along with Marching Ants launched his new calendar for 2008, named ‘Alchemy’. It features 24 of India’s celebrated Bollywood stars from Amitabh Bachchan to Ritesh Deshmukh . Each actor in the calendar is featured as a comic look and character with a story narration. For example, the first comical story features Abhishek Bachchan as Sam, who is a writer by profession.

As this calendar happens to be a limited edition, it will be distributed strictly through private circulation.

Ace photographer Daboo Ratnani launched his limited edition calendar for the year 2008. And this time, the theme was ‘The hottest male buddies of Bollywood’! The collection of 24 top male stars photographed in a very creative way, emphasizing every bit of muscularity mixed with emotions. The stars do look great but however this time the calendar lacks innovation and one can’t but help get a sense of Déjà vu looking at them. The calendar covers huge Bollywood males like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, and John Abraham.

The launch party was attended by many Bollywood celebrities, Shah Rukh Khan, Arjun Rampal, Dino Morea, Katrina Kaif, Riya Sen, Rahul Bose and Ranbir Kapoor to name a few.

Like every year, photographer Atul Kasbekar shot seven beautiful Indian women in bikinis from several exotic locations around the world for the ‘Kingfisher Swimsuit Special Calendar’. The locations include: Shey Palace, Spituk Bridge, Nubra Valley and Ranbirpura at the Chang La Lake in Ladakh, the Kingfisher Villa and Calizz Museum in Goa, Shiv Nivas and city palace in Udaipur and Havelock Island and Elephant Island in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

This was the sixth edition of the award winning Kingfisher Swimsuit Special unveiled in Mumbai by Bollywood actor John Abraham along with UB Ltd Chairman Dr. Vijay Mallya amidst a host of celebrities from the world of fashion, business and celluloid.

This year's swimsuit special has some of the finest and most luxurious brands in the world including La Perla swimwear from their special 'India inspired line', shoes by Jimmy Choo, sunglasses by Roberto Cavalli, watches by Watches of Switzerland and accessories by Christian Dior.
